Job hunting has surged in the past few months, especially in the tech industry, given the intensity of recent layoffs.
Will AI help you land a new job in this economy? Or should we thank AI for taking all the old jobs?
Two weeks ago PayPal CEO said “we will shock the world”.
Then unexpectedly, PayPal announced a global wide workforce layoff of 9% in 2024.
That’s at least 2,500 jobs being cut from PayPal alone.
“Across our organization, we need to drive more focus and efficiency, deploy automation, and consolidate our technology to reduce complexity and duplication,” Chriss wrote in the memo, adding that PayPal will “continue to invest in areas of the business we believe will create and accelerate growth.”
Hmmm… 🤔 That sounds a lot like future jobs will increasingly be revolving around getting the best out of generative AI like ChatGPT or Bard.
That’s right. As AI continues to evolve, ChatGPT fluency, responsible development of customized GPTs, and sector-specific AI integration will become key skills.
That’s not to downplay the fact that many jobs will be altered and made obsolete by generative AI.
How do I know this? I read the statistics and heard it first hand from the experts:
- AI is getting so good, it’s set to replace 300 million jobs by 2030.
- Over 2,000 AI experts agree that automation of all human jobs is expected to happen in the next century.
- Dozens of AI experts have said AI is consistently 50 years ahead of expected progress. You do the math. (That’s 50 years till everything’s potentially fully automated. In all industries.)
- By 2026, 1.4 billion people will have to retrain and reskill to adapt to AI.
- Generative AI is projected to become a $1.3 trillion market by 2032.
- BitMEX cofounder Arthur Hayes believes that artificial intelligence (AI) will choose Bitcoin as its currency of choice. According to Hayes, AI requires a payment system that is available 24/7, digital, and automated, which traditional banking cannot provide.
- When I found an AI long-form writer that generates content worth a salt that can stack up to a real, human content writer – Content at Scale – I couldn’t say no to AI any longer.
You just can’t ignore All that.
Two years ago, I was ignorant on Generative AI.
”It’ll never be good enough to stack up to the writers I know”, I said.
”Human ingenuity is the best”, I said.
Boy was I WRONG!
It’s hard right?
Admitting you were wrong.
None of us like doing it.
We like to stick to our words, prove that we never made a mistake, that we were always in the right.
But you know what?
Those who admit they were wrong and turn around in time are the ones who win.
Now I’m immersing myself into all kinds of Generative AI websites, tools and platforms.
Because, Maverick, you either adapt or die.
You either admit you were wrong and change, or hang on to a quickly dying past.
And you know what?
Reskilling isn’t as hard as you think.
