7 Reasons Why You Should Start a Blog

Why you should start a blog

Every single day, over 2 million blog posts are published on the entire Internet. And the number is increasing…more and more blogs are springing up every day.

You might be asking, “Should I start a blog?”

Absolutely, YES!

I think we all should have a blog. In fact, blogging isn’t just for businesses. Blogging is an incredibly rewarding experience. I started this blog with the intention to share my personal journey, to connect with like-minded people and to inspire others. Along the journey, I come to this realization that blogging might not change my readers but it’s more about the writing changing me. And ever since, it has become my top favorite hobby.

Both my business and me, have changed for the better-professionally, personally and monetarily through blogging. The only regret I have is I waited too long to get started with blogging.

The bottom line is “It’s not so much what you achieve; it’s about who you become.”

It’s one of the best things that you can do with your life. And I always recommend blogging to others. Also, there’s a potential that you can make money online with your blog.

Here are some of the compelling reasons why I think you should start a blog.

7 Reasons Why You Should Start Blogging

Self Improvement

Change doesn’t happen overnight. But it works if you’re getting better 1% every day in whatever that you want to improve. Day by day. Hour by hour.

The same goes for blogging. The impact is very powerful when you get into the habit of researching, reading, organizing, and writing down your ideas, thoughts, opinions, stories and knowledge.

Just by being 1% better every day, when compounded every single day, you’re actually 3700% better every year.

1. You will become a better writer

Good writing skill doesn’t come easy. Just like any other skills, writing is a skill that requires practice. Creating blog posts can improve the way you write primarily because you are practicing. With public practice on a blog, you can truly express yourself in written words and thus improve your writing skill.

Writing shouldn’t be a daunting task if you’re writing about topics that interest you. Start with your passion and something that you know well. Slowly but surely, you’ll become better with written communication. This skill will come very handy for the rest of your life especially in an era we’re living now where written word is King. Whether you want to create a book, a course, a resume, a sale letter, a presentation or a letter to your loved ones, having a good writing skill has its unfair advantage!

2. You will become a better critical thinker

“When you can write well, you can think well.”  Tim Ferris

The process of writing requires you to be an active learner rather than a passive reader It encourages you to think clearly, independently and rationally. You will have to know the subject matter well, doing research and form your own opinion.

Often you’ll learn to reflect on the justification of your own assumptions; thinking deeply on your life; asking better questions; listening to feedbacks; making connections between knowledge and ideas and so on…

You’ll have to get your feet wet to understand what’s in store in you. But most people will choose not to blog, thinking that they have nothing to write about. The truth is everyone has a unique story, opinion and experience to share. It’s a gift waiting to be discovered.

3. You will become more confident

With every blog post you publish, you are opening up yourself and sharing your story with millions of people globally. You’ll learn to express yourself better, facing the fear of making mistakes and being judged by others.

By regularly exposing yourself to engaging conversations, feedbacks, criticism and supports from others, directly or indirectly, blogging will boost your confidence.

Relationship

Having a blog allows you to meet with people from all over the world and build engaged relationships.

4. Build a supportive network

You’ll get an opportunity to meet and be part of an amazing blogger community. It’s a great way to connect and learn from others. The blogging community is very supportive, friendly and genuinely cheering for you to succeed.

5. Build better relationship with your readers

Apart from meeting with other bloggers, you can also turn your readers into good friends by blogging. You’ll attract like-minded people and build engaged relationship through blog comments, social media and emails.

In fact, a lot of partnership, suggestions, and even collaboration can happen in the comments section of a blog. By responding to the comments from your readers, you can to build a strong community around your brand/ business.

Giving Back

6. To inspire others

“When you are living the best version of yourself, you inspire others to live the best versions of themselves.”  Steve Maraboli

The main reason I started this blog is to inspire others. If you tell me five years ago, that I would able to quit my 10-10 demanding job and have my own publishing business, I would laugh my head off! I want to share my story and inspire others to pursue their dream and travel the world. I want to pay it forward, just like how other successful bloggers and entrepreneurs have inspired me (and they still are). Life is more than getting a paycheck.

I spend most of my time writing blog, as I have automated my self-publishing business. I got paid…$0 for doing all these. I could just focus on other business adventures but I choose to spend about 10%of my time on blogging. For nothing. But also, for everything.

Impact.

There’s a potential to make the world we live in a better place. I can’t change the world. But what I can do is to inspire ONE person at a time, that’d be enough for me.

It’s a selfless act of giving back to the society. You choose to invest your time, effort and share your perspective into written words and giving it for free to anyone who wants to read it.

Knowing that you’re helping, empowering and having positive impact on the lives of others would be the most impeccable feeling you’ll ever have.

7. Make money online

Build a blog you’re passionate about, create valuable content and build an audience around it, then the money will follow. Yes, you will be able to make decent incomes from your blog but don’t let money be the only reason that you blog.

You don’t need a huge following to start making money with your blog. In fact, you’ll have the potential to make millions of dollars from the comfort of your own home. Let these Top 10 Successful Multi Million Dollar Bloggers show you the possibility of blogging.
