Everday I receive emails and messages asking me how I build my website, publish books, run my Instagram, Pinterest  etc

 

Truthfully, I’m not that confident that everything I do actually works for you. But I learned a lot over the last 4 years of self-publishing online. Which allow me to quit my day job to work from home full time.

 

Now I can do what I love doing because I have a passive income stream and I don’t have to rely on a month-to-month paycheck.

 

But don’t quit your job tomorrow. I didn’t quit my job until I had my side hustle going for 31 months.

 

Be responsible. You have to work on it over time but every day move closer towards this goal.

Today, I’m going to talk about 40 ways to promote and market your book effectively.

 

After publishing your book, you’ll want to promote it to your target audience. There are tons of free and paid ways to promote your book! You can do it through your website, blog, email, social media or other outreach.

 

Here I’ve compiled a list of 40 ideas to promote your books. You can take your time and work through the ones that interest you, one at a time.

 

Blogs / Websites

 

1. Upgrade your blog regularly. You’ll need to keep up with a consistent publishing schedule to establish trust and build your audience. By having fresh content consistently, your page will rank higher in Google’s search engine.

 

2. Add excerpts from your book to your blog posts from time to time to capture readers’ attention. Choose the right excerpt to showcase your writing and hook potential readers into the story so that they will want to read and buy it.

 

3. Add an “About Me” page. Let your readers know more about you and build a real connection with them.

 

4. Write an in-depth blog post or article on a topic related to your book and include a link to your book throughout the post.

 

5. Interact with your readers. Ask your readers to share their opinion, feedback in the comment section of your blog.

 

6. Connect with other bloggers. Leave valuable comments on their posts, giving a new perspective, opinion or make a compliment on their post. Remember to include a link in your comment too.

 

7. Optimize your keywords for your blog post and headline. By using related keywords properly, you can drive more traffic to your blog.

 

8. Use guest blogging to gain exposure and sell more books. Include a link to your book in the author box. With a guest post, your Kindle book is only one click away- readers can purchase your book easily and quickly.

 

9. Add a call-to-action (CTA) at the end of your post. You can ask your audience to share the post, leave a comment, tweet it, pin it, opt in for your email newsletter, or buy your book.

 

10. Add your blog post to blog communities like BookRix, Agentqueryconnect,and more.

 

11. Add images related to your blog posts. You can also include your book cover in your post.

13. Send an email to your subscribers. You can give them free copies of your book in exchange for honest reviews. Or you can promote your book directly by giving them a reason to buy your book.

16. Collecting and leveraging authentic reader photos.

Using authentic customer photos can help you to build trust and sell more books. Ask your readers to send you a picture of them with your book. Then pin them on Pinterest or post them on Instagram.

 

17. Join active and relevant Facebook groups. Comment on the threads and establish yourself as an expert.

 

18. Create an animated book trailer and post it on your YouTube account.

For Mac users, you can use iMovie software. For Microsoft users, download Movie Creator. There are many other apps like Animoto that you can easily make your own book trailer.

 

19. On your Facebook Business page, create a post about your book. Make sure to pin it to the top so that’s the first thing people will see they visit your Facebook page.

 

20. Make a series of YouTube videos on a topic that’s related to your book or genre.

And put a URL in the video description. If you’re publishing non-fiction books, consider making a series of How-to videos. You can even conduct interviews with your readers and other experts. To get more ideas, you can do a search on YouTube.

It works well for both fiction and non-fiction genre. It’s simply because your readers and fans are asking questions on Quora. Find questions related to your genre and provide the best answers. DON’T just focus on pitching your books. Not only will you help your target audience, you’ll also be seen as a niche expert. And lastly, remember to drop a link to your website, blog, book to increase your engagements and eventually make more sales.

 

23. Make a short presentation and share it on SlideShare.

You can easily get hundreds of views on your SlideShare post. Then, you can invite your visitors to check out your book on Amazon or read more on your blog.

 

24. Host a Google Hangout to promote a new book and connect with your readers. (You can use the slides from SlideShare)

 

25. Start your own Facebook Group for your genre, book or topic. It’s a great way to connect, get feedback and ideas for your next book.

26. Do not enable Digital Rights Management (DRM) on your Kindle ebooks.

Login to your KDP dashboard, and deselect DRM option to pave way for more sharing of your content. Even though you might find your book being shared widely on free sites, it’s a great form of marketing. More sharing = more people will know about you. Who knows, you may attract new readers and build a loyal following.

 

27. Create an Amazon Associates account. Put your book image and a link back to Amazon on your blog. Plus, you’ll earn extra money from the associates program too.

 

28. Offer an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) for a Review

 

29. Include a Call-to-Action at the end of your book. It’s the best time to ask your readers to leave an honest review after they’ve read the book.

 

30. Use KDP Select to run a Free Promotion.

It’s especially effective for new books or the first book in a series. By making your book free, it’s more likely people will discover it. If you book becomes popular, it can rank in the top free chart, this means even more people will see it and download it.

 

31.Run a KDP Select Countdown deal. You can offer your book at a lower price during these 5 days promotion. It still works if you do it in the right way.

 

32. Run a book giveaway on Goodreads.

 

33. Use Goodreads to offer your book in a contest.

 

34. List your book Giveaway at www.goodreads.com/giveaway

Simply add the start and end date of your giveaway and you’re done. But Goodreads Giveaways are only available for print books, you have to post the book out for the winner. If you want to reduce the cost of postage, you can limit the entries to selected countries.

 

35. Start a Goodreads group for your topic. You can network, discuss, connect, and get ideas for your books.

 

36. Get yourself invited to other Podcasts as a guest. Find a niche podcast that has engaged and right target audience.

 

37. Start your own podcast.

 

38. With the help of a third-party app, you can run a book giveaway or contest on your blog, website or Facebook page. For example apps like Rafflecopter,Woobox, or Shortstack, make it simple and easy to set up a contest to giveaway your eBook or physical book.

 

39. Translate your book into other widely spoken languages like German, Spanish, and Japanese. By having your books translated into foreign languages, you’ll be able to increase your reach, your audience, and sell more books!

 

40. Be a guest speaker on a radio show, telesummit, radio station, podcast or other platforms.
