When You Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything…
Do you ever wake up feeling like doing nothing?
Well, it struck me without warning this morning. Feeling totally unmotivated, I couldn’t bring myself to do anything.
Lying on the bed, I stared unseeingly at the ceiling. Wondering “this is just another wasted day?”
I know I’m not alone. It’s inevitable that we all lack motivation sometimes, maybe more often that you’d like to admit. But that’s ok.
Life is about movement. There’s a time for action and time for rest.
Instead of beating myself up or dragging myself to get the sh*t done which could make the situation even worse, I just let it be.
Guess what? My day took an unexpected turn.
While browsing the Internet aimlessly, I stumbled upon this great inspirational movie based on the book The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince).
This film instantly grabbed my attention. Judged by its fairytale-like cover, I think this film should be entertaining, plus it’s directed by Mark Osborne (also the director of Kung Fu Panda-one of my top favorite movies!)
After watching the beautifully animated film for nearly 2hours, it gives me a new whole perspective on life, death and true love. It left me wanting for more and I can’t wait to read this classic book.
The best part is it inspired me to write this post.
The Little Prince
Originally published in 1943, The Little Prince is an all-time favorite children book written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Since then the novella has been translated into over 300+ different dialects and languages.
Don’t be fooled by its cover, this children’s book is full of timeless wisdom as well as words and phrases so touching and meaningful that you don’t know whether to laugh or cry. At its core, it’s written for grown-ups.
Inside every grownup, there’s a child that lingers.
The story begins with the narrator (a seasoned pilot) talking about his discontentment and disappointment with the adults’ world. As they’re growing older, they lose their imagination and replaced by learned reality.
One day, his plane crashes in the Sahara Desert and only has about 8days of water supply. Stranded alone in the vast desert, he meets a young boy (the little prince) that asks him to draw a sheep.
Surprised by the request of this charming boy, the narrator then shows him an old drawing picture and continues to draw him a sheep. Soon, they become very good friends. To avoid any spoiler, I’m not going to tell you the rest of the story here.
